Original Signed oil painting by Henri Laville, 1950's, ornately carved gilt frame. Age and wear as expected, very good condition.
Henri Laville (French, b. 1916 ) Bordeaux, France. Jean Cocteau once wrote, "Henri Laville remains close to his dreams, and his portraits of children have on us the hallucinatory power of exquisite dolls."
While in high school, he entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux. He was a graduate of the Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts of Bordeaux. Grand Prize for painting of the city of Bordeaux, he was sent on a scholarship to pursue his studies at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
Henri Laville is a Knight of the National Order of Academic Palms; Winner of the Academy of Fine Arts; Member of the Academy of History; Honorary citizen of the town of Old Montmartre. Gist of the Prix de Rome and appointed resident at the CASA VELASQUEZ Madrid (resident of the State), he won the Casa Velasquez Award. The Grand Vermeil Medal of the City of Paris.
